Some farmers find that their newly purchased pellet mills are extremely noisy when turned on. After contacting the manufacturer's after-sales service for inspection, they find that the machine itself is not faulty—it turns out that it was not properly secured during installation, or the gaps between parts were adjusted incorrectly. In fact, installation and debugging are technical tasks; if one step is not done correctly, noise will follow. Today, we'll discuss common installation problems and their solutions.
Three reasons
1.
Machine body not securely fixed (resonance noise)
Cause: The pellet mill vibrates during operation. If the machine body is not fixed to the concrete ground with anchor bolts, or if the bolts are loose, the machine body will vibrate, resonating with the ground and surrounding equipment, producing a low-frequency "rumbling" noise that sounds particularly muffled.
Solution: During installation, be sure to use at least 4 anchor bolts to firmly fix the machine body to the concrete foundation (the foundation should be level, preferably with a reinforced concrete foundation beforehand); before each start-up, check if the bolts are loose, and tighten them with a wrench if necessary. Don't wait until the vibration increases before addressing the issue.
2. Improper adjustment of the gap between the pressure roller and the ring die (friction noise)
Cause: A gap of 0.1-0.3 mm (approximately the thickness of a sheet of paper) is required between the pressure roller and the ring die. If the gap is too small, they will rub directly against each other, producing a screeching "squeak" sound; if the gap is too large, the material will not be squeezed tightly, the pressure roller will spin freely, producing a muffled "humming" sound, and material fragments will be ejected.
Solution: After stopping the machine, place an A4 sheet of paper between the pressure roller and the ring die, and rotate the pressure roller. If the paper can be pulled easily, the gap is too large; if it cannot be pulled, the gap is too small. Adjust the adjusting bolt of the pressure roller until the paper can be pulled with slight resistance; the gap is then appropriate.
3. Motor and main shaft misalignment (transmission noise)
Cause: The motor and the pellet mill main shaft are connected by a belt or coupling. If they are not aligned (e.g., uneven height or lateral misalignment), the belt will slip during operation, producing a "squeaking" sound; the coupling will impact, producing a "thumping" sound, and may also damage the belt or coupling.
Solution: Use a ruler to check if the motor shaft and main shaft are in a straight line. If they are misaligned, adjust the motor's mounting bolts, raise the motor, or move it until they are aligned. The belt tension also needs adjustment; press the belt down by hand, and it should depress 1-2 cm. Too loose or too tight will cause noise.
